In the 70’s, the Voyager 2 Probe was launched into space with a plaque destined at explaining life on Earth and the existence of the Human race in all its diversity (ie. The Voyager Golden Records).
If an Alien civilization were to recover the probe and decipher its messages, they would know they were not alone. And hopefully, so would we. In a sense, those space probes were sent To the Others.
And so is our album.
lyrics
Could you just say I’m on my own
Could you just say I’m on my own
Some metal just glide high against cold
Some transmission flies until it folds
Back to us down, down on our own
Receive it and smile we’re not alone
Could you just say I’m on my own
Some metal just glide high against cold
Could you just say I’m on my own
The signal will ride, slide onto home
Back to us down, down on our own
Receive it and smile we’re not alone
Nobody can believe me, I’m freezing
Waking up from the long cold sleep, I’m seeing
From the darkness rise a new light, so shy
(There’s a fire in the cold space
and the Pioneer will call on his own)
Witness sunrise through the curve of - hmmmmm
(Witness sunrise through the curve of – mmmmmmh)
Pionering is so lonely – I’m freezing
(Drape our warm hands on your metal case
the journey ends here but you won’t float alone)
Nobody can believe me, I’m freezing
(There’s a fire in the cold space
and the Pioneer will call on his own)
The Arizona band do right by post-hardcore on their immersive new LP, leavening untempered breakdowns with carefully-measured catharsis. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 20, 2018
For some reason, what I previewed and the real songs was somewhat different - maybe because of the cover art?
But I definitely don't regret something more spacial than expected. The recent Ocean drifting in space. frankwurst
